My boat Seems to be losing Power in performance.. Please Help!?
I have a 2002 Sky supreme 220sp direct drive. Last week i went to the lake and my steering cable was basically gone. The boat was running great at 46 mph. Went to brothers boat and bought a new steering cable with rack. I Changed it out and went to the lake the following week. steering cable is great, Now my boat will not top over 35 mph. pulling a wakeboarder will not top over 12mph. seems like i have been losing alot a gas as well. full tank went down to half after 15 miles of driving. the motor shakes more than normal. I been to the same lake for years so its not the altitude. Anyone out there ran into this problem before? please help!! Thank you!

- You might have a "dangerous situation". Have you inspected all your fuel lines for leaks? Does more water than usual drain from the boat when you pull it out of the water? Do you have trim tabs and if so, are they functioning normally (if hydraulic), or have they shifted (if fixed)?
- Do you smell fuel in the bilge?
- Could be several things, but, I have always had luck starting with the most obvious first; Motor shaking/vibrating, poor top end/acceleration, fuel economy poor.....is it possible you did some type of damage to the prop/shaft? Can you recall any trailering/launching mishaps that may have bent anything in the drive system? You inspected the prop for nicks/cracks/chips, etc? My thought would be to look for something in the drive system...losing that much fuel you would notice if it's leaking into the bilge...you're snot SMELLING gas are you? Even leaking gas wouldn't necessarily cause a lack of power....hmmmm. Good luck.
- Sounds like you knocked a spark plug wire off>While repairing the steering> Check that out>>
- I had a problem of this nature twice before- the first time I had knocked the prop out of line, and had to get it re pitched- the second time, I had failed to replace a spark plug wire- Check out these two first.
