what happens to the fluid speed between two boats side by side in a flowing river?

Public Comments

  1. the fluid speed remain constant
  2. Well maybe the same and maybe not. If the two boats are close together they will block the flow with a little bow wave and that will raise the water elevation ahead of the boats a bit so the water will tend to pile up and with a slightly greater slope, the speed will pick up a bit until the obstructions are past. But if the are far enough apart, the bow waves will be local to each and the water speeds will vary a bit. This is inexact since the variable distance between the boats as well at the water speed and stuff is unknown.
